The Elegance of Double Hung WindowsBow windows can look very elegant and majestic especially if you know how to provide the right treatment. The approach is fairly simple and you don't even have to spend much trying to find the perfect look that matches your style and savvy. Here are some of the options available as well as a few guidelines to follow during installation. There are two main ways to treat your bow windows. The easier route would be to choose individual window shade treatments. Perhaps four or more windowpanes comprise the curve of your bow window so getting single treatments will provide each one with its own shade drop-down style. Make sure you choose the ones that match the area where you're planning to place them. The colors should also be complimentary and consistent to avoid clutter.Bow windows are generally considered to be an attraction in the home. It is equally important that the treatment you choose will bring out its beauty and shape more. You may choose window shades that provide more privacy when you need it as well as window shades that try to draw more attention to the bow window. Individual café curtains have less privacy but focus more on providing a nice view and aesthetic appearance. The window treatment should look good from the inside and outside. A useful solution would be to find a cloth roller shade having designs or colors that compliment when viewed from the outside and another different pattern or tone when viewed from inside the house. You may need to have one made just for your window to perfectly suit the environment.Your second option would be to get a custom-made cloth roller shade that specifically follows the curve of your bow windows through a track. There are a number of manufacturers that customize shades and blinds. You also get to spend a lot of effort and time in this manner since you can freely choose the design and color you need. Double track roller shades are also good if you feel that the environment supports it with enough light.
Double Hung Window - Installation Facts
Winter can be a beautiful season, but its pleasures are often best enjoyed from the warm interior of our homes. That's where beautiful bow windows come in. You can sit by the window, comfy and warm on cushions, hot cocoa in hand, all the while watching snowflakes fall or the cardinals and chickadees at the birdfeeder. So, if you have a room that seems to need "something" and you have been planning a renovation that involves replacement windows, consider some of the many benefits of installing a room expanding bow window.
Bow windows are perfect for living rooms, kitchens, sitting rooms, dining rooms, or even master bedrooms. Consisting of a series of four, five, or six identical windows, the bow window gently curves out from a wall, creating a kind of panoramic effect on the view outdoors while offering convenient and gracefully curved seating or floor space indoors. The addition of a bow window actually extends room size, but it also appears to bring the outdoors in without the expense of a sunroom. Your room will be awash with natural light.
You may ask why that matters. If a window frame reacts to changes in temperature differently than the wall where it is attached, then small gaps are created that increase over time and allow drafts in. Wood and vinyl composite window frames respond to changes in temperature very similar to the way your house does; they expand and contract together as the weather changes. That means no gaps or cracks will appear, so your windows stay airtight and foggy windows will be a thing of the past.
So let the cold winds blow! Between today's composite window frames and Low-E glass technology, your house will stay comfortable all winter long, and you can significantly cut your energy bills while you're enjoying the view.
As an added bonus, today's composites offer the real look of wood, both inside and out, so the exterior of your home will also benefit from the addition of a beautiful bow window. Now, all you have to do to make the picture complete is get your landscape in order!
Replacement Window Installation to Increase House Value
I have written a number of vinyl replacement windows compare or comparison-based reviews. Each time I consider various aspects of the subject matter. Today I have picked some few brands that I want us to look at. I have not limited this article to only these so do read right to the end.
You can buy the Milgard Tuscany vinyl windows for your residential home. I have found them to work great except that they do not tilt-in especially this single hung one. This really makes it difficult when trying to clean them. Despite all that when I considered the other brands like Amerimax, Atrium and Simonton - Milgard was the cheapest of them all.
As for Pella - this is a great company with great windows buy I am not impressed with their Pella ThermaStar. In my opinion they are low-grade vinyl windows for those people looking for a cheap price.
When looking at vinyl replacement windows - compare various things not just the price. You need to look at the service, durability, functionality and proximity of the supplier.
